CHRISTMAS MANTEL IDEAS

Christmas is a magical time of year, isn't it? It happens to be one of my favorite holidays and a time when I absolutely love to decorate my house. There seem to be two key areas where my love for holiday decor shines the brightest–the Christmas tree (of course) and the fireplace mantel. I often start brainstorming Christmas mantel decorating ideas a few months early, just to get the look perfect.

After all, the mantel and hearth is the heart of your home. As the poem goes, "the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there…" I love decorating my front door, porch, and entryway because it's where I welcome guests to my home. Well, if Santa arrives via the fireplace, set the stage for one of the most important guests of the season with awesome Christmas mantels.

Not everyone has a mantel of course, but many of us have a gathering area–around a front window, a shelf or other spot in our home–where we hang our holiday stockings and put out our favorite decorations. These Christmas mantels (and faux mantels) are a focal point of your holiday decorating!

When it comes to Christmas mantel decorating ideas (for your fireplace, shelf, or gathering spot) there's no right or wrong way to go about it. You can go with a simple look, using natural elements, pops of color, red and green patterns, or go as elaborate, yummy, and over-the-top as you want with your Christmas mantel decor.

The most important part of decorating Christmas mantels is that you have fun doing it and love the end product! If you follow those two simple guidelines, your mantel will be a holiday hit!

I've compiled a list of 20 amazing Christmas mantels to give you ideas and inspiration as you work on your own holiday mantel display. Find elements you love to recreate in your space or take one of these Christmas mantel decorating ideas and let it spark your imagination–run with something unique and a style all your own.
